Check the Weather channel first
I get an email from Pace last night saying that Pace U will be closed on Friday (today) due to the weather. Great, Awesome! If classes are cancelled I don’t have to go to my Clinical that day, aka, day off to do nothing.
After preparing not to work in the morning I head to bed with peace of mind… until I wake up. There’s only about 4 inches (MAX) of snow on the ground. To me when your day begins uttering “Shit!” it might not be a great day after all. Maybe its from growing up in New England where we would get about 90 inches of snow per year and school would only be cancelled if there was 6-8 inches plus on the ground; but I felt compelled to go to work as what I was seeing was not a valid reason to skip out.
Head into shower, shave, turn on TV while eating cereal (see other post), “oh hey, I left it on the weather channel.” 6-9 inches of snow by the afternoon with sleet and other wintry mix by the afternoon commute according to the meteorologist.
A day of nothing it is! Next time check the weather first!
